"Having discussed the project with a number of contractors, we were delighted to have chosen Simon and Artistra to build out first floor extension. The plans involved building a one floor extension on top of an existing flat-roofed kitchen to create a fourth bedroom and an en-suite bathroom. With our second baby on the way, the extra space had become a priority - along with making sure the project was finished before the baby arrived! Simon was personable, enthusiastic about the build, and while the expectations were laid out clearly in a contract, it was Simon’s personal commitment to seeing things get done that stood out the most. All building projects are unique and have their individual challenges. This was no exception but Simon was always determined to make sure things were done to an exacting standard and any problems uncovered during the build were negotiated very well. All the tradesmen that Simon brought in were fantastic. They are excellent craftsmen, very professional and courteous - a pleasure to have around. The build involved knocking through to the existing rooms upstairs. The project involved a number of carpenters, electricians, roofers, plumbing and painting and decorating. There were some mores bespoke items like the sash windows and particular roof tiles. The company making the windows were outstanding. The sash windows and the detailed carpentry work on the cupboards and a window box seat, have added an elegant and characterful finish to the build. We were delighted with the quality of their work and the materials they used - everything was finished to a very high standard. The build was checked periodically to ensure compliance with building regulations and standards and the final certification came through to complete the project. The finished build has blended in brilliantly with the existing original parts of the home and the rest of the homes on the street. We now have a beautiful bedroom and en-suite that has added value to the home but most importantly has been hugely enjoyable for the whole family."
